Medication used for Covid-19 Treatment
- Remdesivir (Veklury): Remdesivir is a SARS-CoV-2 nucleotide analog RNA polymerase inhibitor. FDA approved Veklury (remdesivir) to treat hospitalized COVID-19 patients.
- Nirmatrelvir/Ritonavir combination (Paxlovid): Paxlovid currently has FDA emergency use authorization. Nirmatrelvir is a SARS-CoV2 main protease inhibitor. Ritonavir is a HIV-1 Protease inhibitor and CYP3A inhibitor.
- Molnupiravir: Molnupiravir is authorized for emergency use only by the FDA. It is a nucleoside analogue that inhibits SARS-CoV-2 replication by viral mutagenesis.
- Baricitinib (Olumiant): Barcitinab is indicated for the treatment of COVID-19 in hospitalized adults and pediatric patients 2 yrs of age or older requiring supplemental oxygen, non-invasive or invasive mechanical ventilation, or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.
- Monoclonal antibody medications (examples: sotrovimab, bebtelovimab, bamlanivimab, etesevimab, casirivimab and imdevimab)
